Dublin to celebrate Europe Day (8th May) with festival of food, music and dance

Fine Gael MEP for Dublin, Brian Hayes, has called on Dubliners to join in the Europe wide celebrations for “Europe Day” this Friday. The European Commission Representation in Ireland and the European Parliament Information Office will be hosting Europe Day celebrations. The event will include a “Taste of Europe” offering food from the EU countries, in cooperation with the embassies of the EU Member States in Ireland. This free event at European Union House, on the corner of Dawson Street and Molesworth Street, is be open to the public and starts at 12.30 p.m.

“It’s easy to forget that much of the recent history of this continent was dominated by bloody war. Europe Day celebrates the peace and unity that has been the hallmark of the European Union. The European Commission and the European Parliament offices in Ireland are hosting a fabulous festival of food, music and dance this Friday, right in the centre of town. I’m encouraging Dubliners to drop in and take part in the Europe wide celebrations.”

“The European diplomatic community in Ireland are really stepping up to the plate with Embassy staff from the European Embassies in Dublin providing a ‘taste of Europe’. There will also be music, dance and coral performances throughout Friday lunchtime, all MC’ed by RTÉ DJ Shay Byrne.”

“As 2015 is the European Year of Development the music will include voices from the developing world. I’m looking forward to a fun filled festival of food, music and dance.”
